Family Fun At San Diego Zoo
San Diego Zoo is known across the world as one of the most progressive and largest zoos currently in existence. All together, the zoo houses more than 4000 animals from 800 different species and is known for its fantastic educational facilities. All of this, of course, makes it a fabulous destination for a family day out, so if you’re holidaying in San Diego then it’s more than worth planning to spend at least a day exploring this incredible attraction.
Situated in Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo is easy to access and offers just about anything you could want during a great day out, from the chance to see thousands of animals from around the world with your very own eyes to gathering around a table for a hearty lunch, petting zoo opportunities and an excellent way to kick start the kids’ wildlife education in such an enjoyable way that they won’t even realise they’re learning. You can enjoy the guided tour bus ride that heads around the majority of the park which will help you get to grips with your surroundings before making the most of a ride on the incredible Skyfari, an overhead gondola lift that traverses the sky and provides exceptional views of the zoo from above. A ride in the Skyfari will make for an unforgettable experience and affords fantastic photo opportunities too.
The zoo is packed with plenty of exhibits to explore, from the Panda Research Station where you can get up close and personal with some gorgeous giant pandas to the breathtaking Elephant Odyssey, the Polar Bear Plunge, the Ituri Forest – which is based on the actual Ituri forest in Africa and features many species indigenous to that area – and the exciting Monkey Trails and Forest Tales exhibits, where you can introduce your little ones to some of our closest relatives.
You can rest assured that after an action-packed day at the zoo you’ll be more than ready to collapse in bed at one of the comfortable San Diego hotels – and wake up refreshed in the morning for a brand new day of exploration. Beware the magic of the zoo, however – its breadth of exhibits and sheer volume of fun and exciting things to see and do could mean you enjoyed your first visit so much you want to visit again and again during your stay in the city!

San Francisco’s Aquatic Park $17.48 Aquatic Park has long been the place where San Franciscans and tourists alike go to enjoy an authentic maritime experience. Along Hyde Street Pier and the sandy strip of beach near the Maritime Museum, this area was once called Black Point Cove. It now hosts a dramatic array of historic ships such as the Balclutha (formerly Star of Alaska) and a graceful curvilinear pier with a sweeping vista of the Golden Gate. For most of its history, this park has seen recreational use of every stripe. Members of the delightful Dolphin Club have braved the chilly bay waters ever since the club was founded in 1877. Then there is the South End Rowing Club, which for many decades has carried on its graceful traditions in the protected lagoon. |
